Joe is a dedicated and talented dancer who has been doing street dance with Brighton’s Streetfunk for 6 years. In 2012, he became a member of their U14 competition crew, Stereoshok. Joe’s family finds the costs of classes and taking part in competitions increasingly challenging however is very keen that he continues to dance which is his passion.

We awarded Joe £1,200 for a year of classes at Streetfunk.

Joe’s mum Hannah says: “Joe and I would both like to say a massive thank you for giving him an Edward Starr Award and helping support what he loves doing! His dedication to dance has given him a great focus and he has gained so much confidence from dance and having JP as his role model.

Joe loves being part of such a fantastic group of young people and I am extremely proud of him and the rest of the crew with their hard work and dedication. His has made some great friendships and we love being part of the ‘Streetfunk’ family!

This award will help Joe to compete at the highest level and represent Brighton and Hove in competitions across Europe.
